Watercolour, coloured pencils and collage on heavyweight watercolour paper.
16 x 30.5 cms (6.4 x 12.2 inches). A post stamp and fabric cutouts enhance the composition. I painted this little beauty in autumn 2009, exactly two years ago! Every time I start a new painting, a 'conversation' begins between my artwork and me. I have the original idea and the painting suggests different paths to follow and different materials to use. If the 'conversation' is interrupted, I consider the piece unfinished until the dialogue resumes. In this case, the conversation was interrupted when I started working at the Exhibition Hall. My new job took my mind -and my feelings- away from this artwork and I had to put it safely away into a drawer. Till yesterday. Going through some unfinished pieces, I suddenly knew what I needed to do to finish this one. The little bird chirped it to me: 'Add a few pieces of colourful fabric!' It now seems very obvious but this is usually the case when you find the solution. Before you do, it's a mystery. I felt very happy when my Little Singer was finally complete, I fell in love with him all over again. I hope you'll like him too! It is a bright, cheerful composition, a sweet cascade of colours on your wall. It is on sale in my Etsy shop: paintafeeling in her garden
I love cats!
I have five at home and I also feed two or three more in the neighbourhood. I watch them daily while they play, eat, sleep and fight. Yes, sometimes they fight too. And now I also have some cats on paper! This is the first cat painting I am posting here and I hope all you cat lovers like it. I hope even those of you who are not cat lovers like it :) Judging by the reactions of my younger real-life followers, this original watercolour painting would make a great special gift for that great special young one we all have in our lives. The golden "seal" on the upper right corner is in fact a small papercut on golden paper that I glued on the painting using non-toxic glue. Watercolour, acrylic ink, graphite, papercut and collage on fine-grain, heavyweight watercolour paper. 21 x 28 cms (8.4 x 11,2 inches). ORIGINAL AVAILABLE in my Etsy shop: paintafeeling love is more than a word
Love is always there, even when it's not very fashionable.
And so much more now that 14 February is near. Saint Valentine's Day! So this little mixted-media piece is a conceptual tribute to that ever-present feeling. And since love -according to the text here- is a spell, I lovingly included a quotation from A Midsummer Night's Dream by Shakespeare: 'What thou seest when thou dost wake, Do it for thy true-love take.'
